PDO Thread lift

What is PDO thread facelift?

PDO Threads are one of the most popular and highly effective non-surgical means to lift and tighten loose, sagging skin tissues as well as dissolve small areas of fat on the lower face and body.

PDO threads are made of soluble polydioxanone (PDO) which is a material that has been used mainly in surgery for many years. It is known that PDO threads relaxes muscles and tendons and also stimulates the neocollagenesis process, encouraging the production of new collagen in the skin.

PDO threads also stimulates the synthesis of elastin and hyaluronic acid, both of which are vital for keeping the skin looking plump and youthful. Another effect is an improvement in lymph and blood microcirculation.

How does it work?

A very fine needle is used to insert the PDO thread into the skin. The thread is introduced into either the skin itself, the subcutaneous fat, or the muscle, depending on the area being treated. The PDO threads will give the skin an immediate, natural improvement in appearance. As the PDO stimulates the production of collagen over time, the skin becomes thicker, tighter and firmer leading to fine lines and wrinkles fading away.

Short strands of threads are used to treat fine lines around the eyes, while thicker strands can be injected into the muscles of the forehead as an alternative to Botulinum Toxin (Botox). A lifting effect will result from using longer threads in the neck and jaw line.

Reddening at the thread introduction spots disappears 3-5 hours after the treatment. The threads will be absorbed naturally by the body in six to eight months but the effect of the treatment can last for up to two years.

PDO thread lift COG

The most recent development in thread lifting has been the introduction of COG threads. A move away from the traditional monofilaments to barbed threads (COG), this new shape induces higher chronic inflammatory reaction causing a higher rate of fibroblast conversion during the wound healing process. As a result, clients achieve a longer lasting and more visible effect after a single treatment using the COG threads.

The application of the COG threads is practically non-invasive and painless, takes less than an hour, leaves no scarring or cuts and the minor redness disappears within a few days. Local anaesthetic is injected in to the treatment area. The effect of the COG thread is an enhanced lifting of sagging connective tissue and fat tissue underneath the skin.
