What is PRP face lift?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. It is used as an overall skin rejuvenation treatment and also on lines and wrinkles-especially on face. PRP Face Lift involves blood being taken from the patient in the same way as in a blood test and then put in a machine that separates the blood cells. Serum and platelets are then injected directly back into the face or the area of the body in need of rejuvenation. It is sometimes referred to as ‘Dracula’ Or ‘Vampire’ Lift or Angel Lift.

How does it work?

Platelets release growth factors and help the body repair itself by stimulating cells to regenerate new tissue. This normally happens during the healing process following a cut or injury to skin. Hence, as well as improving the skin tone, the treatment also promotes healthy skin growth and collagen production so that the skin appears plumper and more vibrant. Expect the skin to be visibly smoother, firmer and revitalised within three weeks of treatment and improvements in skin tone and texture will continue in the following months.

What are the advantages?

PRP can be injected anywhere on the face-even around eyes and corner of eyes where injection of other facial fillers are not normally recommended. Unlike other fillers, there is no risk of reaction or granuloma(lumpiness) formation as the injected substance is derived from your own blood. Although the results are slower to appear, the effect lasts longer than conventional fillers.

The time taken depends on the condition of the skin but usually three treatments are recommended with a six week gap between each treatment. Results usually last for eighteen months and top-up treatments will maintain the effects. These are the results of various studies conducted worldwide, but as with any medical treatment, we are unable to guarantee any results.

What results can I expect?

PRP treatment gives a rejuvenated, natural glow to the face. Skin appears less grey and wrinkles or creased areas are given more volume. Worn skin texture appears rejuvenated and refreshed. The treatment is ideal for patients who wish to restore a more youthful appearance without surgery.
